With the Christmas season over, it was time for another adventure! Some might say skiing is not for the weak and requires some serious skills. And while Matt has found this experience thrilling, I, on the other hand, have been scared shitless and ski lessons were a must. Not only have I not skied for 30 years, I also forgot how hard it is to do a pizza downhill! lol

If you are looking for a ski destination that is not France, Austria or the Swiss Alps and it’s a stone away in beautiful Lower Tatras – Jasna is your place to be! The weekend/weekly ski pass can be booked online – you can also get yourself a seasonal ticket that allows you to use a number of different ski resorts around Europe, eg. Austria, Poland or Czech Republic…

Around week 3 I began to feel a little more confident and with some guidance I have even managed to do a different slope downhill (which almost killed me by my standards), while Matt looked like he was born to ski. However then we were hit by an unexpected setback – Matt got pneumonia and needed treatment. During the recovery we had taken it easy and spent most of the time around our rental cottage going for walks and enjoying the snow.

The fresh mountain air was also absolutely the best for the recovery and pups have certainly enjoyed their time in the Tatras. So many options and endless fun in the fresh air. You can spend your day in Tatralandia – a water park with plenty of things to do when your body is screaming after a hard day hitting the slopes.

Jasna is also a great summer destination for bike enthusiasts and seasonal hikers. We are hoping we can spend some time exploring the High Tatras with the fur kids over the summer.
We are slowly coming up to a year of travel around Europe and our next destination will be Bordeaux … keep on reading!
